A National Scandal The United Kingdom, of pensioner poverty a demographic time bomb, bereft of dignity in a nation that's rich, there's been a very poor deal and those that won freedom, can hardly pay for a meal An ageing population, should be celebrated and applauded but the means tested state benefits, are tainted and sordid a pittance of a payment, that could hardly buy a cup of tea for these venerable citizens, who saved us from tyranny The smarmy politicians, that engineer an oppression who've never experienced hardship, or been through a depression is it the British class system, that's gone into overkill ? like a modern day slavery, their own bank balances to fill What kind of government, treats its most honourable heroes like troublesome employees, who's status is zero ? hypothermia in Winter, not enough funds to get by with no retirement savings, the fatalities are high To whom can they turn, is there a helpline ? one third of the electorate, as their numbers decline without recognition or respect, not enough money to live on just second class citizens, in a neglected generation Its a National Scandal, that's mean and obscene to sell to the pensioners, such a tight fisted scheme what chance for the future, and the younger to follow ? when a lifetime of achievement, has its rewards so hollowBirth sign: Sagittarius
