giant road runner

by marvin d goldfarb - Aquarius

saying that i cant fly is very much a big lie im most often found on the ground but occassionally i would flee to the low branches of a tree

Reason for writing:

after being annoyed by the deception the cartoon author displayed about this bird i showed a picture of the giant road runner in a large tree so that children can see that this bird can fly when it wants to. when i read the poem in schools i tell the children that the bird does not go beep beep and it is not 6 feet high. it sounds like a rock dove pigeon but with a deeper voice and it is 2 feet high. this poem goes with the picture and is in my book OUT OF THE WORDS OF BIRDS
