Roots

by Aly - Leo

A horrible dark thought
Lingers in my bones
Bearing on its branches
The dreadful boon of hatred.

Down to the very bone
Its smoky roots descend
Ruthlessly suffocating
The ethereal essence of love.

A terrible dark feeling
Wriggles through my nerves
Spreading its branches
With the obnoxious seed of anger.

Down to the very fibre
Its windy roots descend
Miserably deranging
The soft breeze of joy.

An awful dark reflection
Lurks in my veins
Shooting forth on its branches
The luscious buds of lust.

Down to the very blood
Its chaotic roots descend
Secretly obscuring
The bright light of peace.

A hideous dark intellect
Flows in my flesh
Swelling its branches
With the bitter grapes of wrath.

Down to the very pulp
Its turbid roots descend
Vilely polluting
The clear stream of mercy.

An odious dark reasoning
Blazes in my skin
Dilating its branches
To the crude relish of deceit.

Down to the very pore
Its fiery roots descend
Heavily consuming
The lucid spark of sincerity.

O what horror and shame
Unto my soul
As I lie imprisoned
In this dark universe!

The serpents are woven all around me
And they spit their venom on me
From their open mouths.
