framed against the sunset

by Antwan Fields - Aries

question:
of all the sleepless nights and all the awkward moments
who waits for the end?
can you tell when it is here?
and death is what you fear
and its hurts so bad it sears
i have walked into the shadow of power
but i do not feel it
i have my life
but you must now steal it
as pimples begin their stand against me
and laughter resounds and i cover my ears and run
asking myself: when will this treachery end?
and i called them my friends, now i tremble with rage
but advice to stay calm
i got from a sage
so as i stand here
laughing and joking and watching the clock
a friend holds up a mirror at the end and i see myself
framed against the sun
and i smile in victory.
