Once more

by Traveler - Aries

You don't do your share,
you said.

You just lie on the couch,
you said.

Can't you hear the kids ask?
you said.

with anger in you eyes.

I said, I don't know.
You're right, I should.
But then I don't.
Why?

Maybe I'm lazy.
Maybe I'm tired.
Maybe I want you angry.
So I can stop loving you.
A little bit more.
Each time.

Ruthless genes, enacting their will?

But then we go out
In the cool fresh night
to the place with the people
and noise
and laughter
and food.

And as we walk to the light
you look up at me now
with those adoring eyes
so I can fall in love again,
once more.

Reason for writing:
