Shackles

by FireFly - Libra

Somebody said that I’d have to-
Lift them up-
Part the enemies from friends-
Hold the moon so it-
Only shine on them-

Flesh and bone-
I can hold you-
And fight off demons-
The thunderbolt-
Given to every man-
Sometimes strikes a victim-
That I do not-
Want to be apart of-

First be trained to fight-
But learn how to love-

If the shackles in your dungeon-
Are a familiar on your wrists-
And ankles-
The light trickles in thru the cracks-
I’ll be waiting, but I can’t turn the key-
To unlock you-
You first need to trust yourself-

It’s cloudy in your eyes, I know-
Your heart hangs in every rainstorm-
I know, its shadow boxing with yourself-
Turn the lock, and leave the shackles-
And come as you are-
I’ll be waiting-
In warmth, in the stars-
I’ve heard you shout my name-
A thousand times-
But this time, you’ll only have to whisper-
