A Babe Was Born

by Chelle Wood - Cancer

On a long and lonely night
With no place they could call home
In a small and quiet shelter
In the hay, a babe was born.
His mother and his father
As weary as could be
Thanked their God in heaven
For the star that helped them see.
Others traveled a great distance
To witness the miracle foretold
And to gaze upon the infant
Lying shivering in the cold.
A hush was all around them
Not a sound did anyone make
As they watched and waited
For the newborn babe to wake.
When the child's eyes did open
And wandered over all who gathered there
They could feel the power and wisdom
In that little baby's stare.
"He's a prince," a shepherd whispered
Barely just a boy himself
And he gazed in awe and wonder
As three men brought forth great wealth.
"He is a king," said a wise man
"Come to set us all free
In the end he'll be our redemption
So sayeth the prophecy."
Then the Star shown all its brightness
As if night turning to day
And the Angels in the Heavens
Gathered round to sing his praise.
"Behold, the Great Messiah!
Hark ye, hear what now we sing
For this child you see before you
Is Son of God and King of kings!"
And the mighty Angels' voices
Echoed loud throughout the land
"Give him laud and kneel before him
For he is The Great I AM!"
