Brotherly love

by Jason - Taurus

This is the story of two brothers who took very different paths.
One was Johnny and the other Billy, they did not see eye to eye.
For it was a time of conflict for this country and all the men were needed
to go off and fight for good old Uncle Sam in a very distant land.

Johnny was the patriotic type and did what was right and singed up to go fight.
Billy did not feel the same and went to college instead.
He took part in protest of this war he thought was so unjust.
He brined the American flag to show his hatred for everything American,
Even the boys in green who were fighting for his freedom.
But Johnny was proud to have that flag upon his sleeve
And he swore to defend it and the constitution of this land witch he love so very much.
He walked down the street looking sharp in uniform,
and he didn’t let the heckles get him down, For he now what he was doing was the best for this land.
And he was soon in the fight defending this nation form the enemy at hand.

And Billy was still burning the flag and denouncing the Constitution,
He even burned his draft card in defiance of a nation.
He talked about anarchy and the collapse of this country,
And thought about how “cool” it would be if it only happened.
And if asked about his brother he would say he didn’t have one
For he was apart of the establishment witch they didn’t want to have a part of.

And where was Johnny right then?
He lying dieing in a field in the middle of the jungle,
And as the pain tore through his body he whispered to his buddy,
“Give my flag to Billy boy and tell him I was thinking of him at the end.”
And with that he closed his eyes and with a grin, fell into his eternal rest never to rise again.
And in his pocket they found a simple note that read
“I did it for you Billy and the kids you will have.”

And now many years have past since that faithful day,
And Billy is all grown up and lives with his wife and a little boy,
And on the mantle you will see a flag folded neatly beside a picture of a solider looking proud in uniform.
For it is the flag Johnny had cared so proudly in the past.
