Break Free This Cocoon

by Chelle Wood - Cancer

Wrapped in a cloak
Spun rigid, spun tight
Trapped in a closet
Dark as midnight
The fibers are woven
With falsehoods and tripe
And no one will know
For this is my plight

To most a worm
Is all they will see
A fuzzy mask
Of iniquity
One day I'll come out
My true self I'll be
Until, no one will know
My identity

I long to escape
Spread my wings and fly
Break free this cocoon
Unveil the lie
Will everyone accept me?
I'll still be the same inside
Only now I'll emerge
A beautiful butterfly

Reason for writing:

    For Antwan...your wings are beautiful...
