fragments of a dream

by jan oskar hansen. - Scorpio

Fragment of a Dream.

When I awoke it was still raining and
The roof, still leaking. A sense of
Emptiness, felt cheated, hadn't been
Dreaming much, except for seeing
Some horses galloping across the pampas
Of Argentina, flaring nostrils and flying
Manes.

Came close to a dusty town and were lured
Into a coral, wills broken to nil, tethered
On a field, sad eyes looking longingly towards
The pampas. I've seen those eyes before
In old sailors, by the shore, looking towards
The sea and the far ocean they shall not see,
Except in their dreams.
