I Hear You Calling

by Mary Lord DeGrood - Leo

From the distant winds, I hear you calling
A mist appears; a tear is falling
My heart is yearning; I want to go
There is a whisper, telling me no

The perception, from the start
Of our difference; our worlds apart
In this life, it wasn't to be
Together, not you and me

Deafness fell, upon my ears
As voices beckoned, for me to hear
Love did flourish; then it wilted
Knowingly, but not; I was jilted

For eternity, my soul is bound
Forevermore, the memories resound
The searing tears, forever falling
Silence.... You've stopped calling
