Deuce Ex Machina

by Brett - Gemini

Falling through truths bad grace,
A smile upon a familiar face.
Transparent whispers barely lucid,
Follow the strain of the deuced.

As I turned to take his hand,
To show him from this hidden land,
A figure transcended through the waste,
And my companion mired in haste.

Staring from behind his mask,
He lent forward as if to ask,
But I forestalled him with a gesture,
And pointed down to where he left her.

Truth abolished his mask, deuced.
Now glaring behind eyes too lucid.
Transcending higher to his fate.
Pride now traded for his hate.
