In Your House But Alone

by Heather Williams - Libra

I shouldn't have been there
Looking in your dresses
I was only curious
It hit me hard in the living room
As your cat rubbed up against my leg
The Matrix still in the DVD player
That I care about you
Perhaps too much
So I moved to the green couch
I sat down and tried to lean back
Like I used to do
And when I fell your arms were not there
Your heartbeat did not sound in my ear
And with the bunny hopping
And the cats purring
I had the most empty feeling
I have ever had

Reason for writing:

House-sitting can bring some horrible feelings to the heart.
