The Face That You Wear.

by Tracey - Aries

The Face That You Wear

The face that you wear has always been there
Laughing or crying, he didn't care.
The tears they fall down your face
A different time, a different place.
You think he'll change so you stay
The tears keep building up day by day.
A push, a shove, a punch, a slap
What did I do to deserve this crap?
Your sympathy, no thats not what I want
Just come with me we'll take a jaunt.
For those of you who've been there before
Take a seat, let them know whats in store.
The pain, the anquish, the "no" self-esteem
Will only get worse, if you know what I mean.
You run, you hide to avoid the pain
But don't go back, it's all the same.
You live in fear in this world God made
Slower and slower you start to fade.
Take it from me I've been there too
Wondering what the hell to do.
Before it's too late and you are gone
Get out while you can while your still strong.
You don't need that anymore than the rest
Show them the way outs the best.
The example you set will reflect on the young
For living that way is never fun.
When you've finally reached the end of the rope
It's all right to let go there's lots of hope.
Now you've finally won the game after all these years
Now live and learn, help them out of their fears.
Step outside, inhale the fresh air,
Because the face that you wear has always been there.

Reason for writing:

The reason for this poem is to help those that are suffering
from domestic abuse. You will never "have a life" if you
don't get out while you can. I was a victim of domestic
abuse for five years, but it took almost losing my life
and realizing that my one year old daughter deserved
a much better life than to see abuse. She also was by far
more important than any man will ever be. I know that
men can be the victims also but in my case it was me
and my daughter that were the victims.
