the fifth brigade

The Fifth Brigade

An army of beer bottles
Invaded my modest home.
Occupied cupboards and
Threw butter, cheese, milk
And eggs out of the fridge.

I was pissed last night and
Shiny helmets litter floors.
Sang rude songs, neighbours
Knocked on walls and begged
For mercy.

I'm an old soldier now, fought
Endless battles against demons
And slain them all, only they
Keep coming back for more and
It's time for me to win the war
