A POEM FOR HER

by Alexia Caulfield - Libra

Paused mid thought you looked at me,
As if my expression would hold some unknown truth.
A reply to a question you hadn't asked yet,
An answer I didn't have.

The words hung in the air as you spoke,
Tongue carefully curling round each delicate letter.
Only you could capture that brutal sentence
So eloquently.

For a moment there was nothing,
An immortal numbness shrouded in black.
Then that fatal bleak emotion gave way,
To very human pain.

The lights began to swim in my eyes,
As I watched your face mutate through the memories.
Your cruel voice embedding itself
Forever in my tears.

Reason for writing:

I was imagining the person i love telling me it's over. Simple, ordinary breaking up poem. hope you like it. please rate it or make comments because i need feed-back. no one else has ever seen any of my poems, aren't you lucky?!?
