There At The Precipice

by Chuck Pool - Virgo

There At The Precipice

He loved to live life at the very edge
Of a precipice that dropped into hell
Pushing the limits to the breaking point
With a flare for the dramatic as well
He dared all the gods and challenged fate
And believed he could do it all
With reckless abandon and no second thoughts
And no reason to think he could fall
He saw himself as invincible
And was willing to take that chance
Just another inch of excitement
Like how far to go out on a branch
Danger was something you laughed at
Nothing can happen to me
I know what I’m doing and love it
So stand aside and just let it be
Is this the tenet of a madman
Or someone in search of a soul
Who could stand at the edge of a precipice
Looking down at a bottomless hole
There were no boundaries or cage to contain
So one day while standing there high
He leapt from the edge with arms outstretched
Thinking somehow that he could fly
