The uninvited pop-in Just shows up at your door Without a prior warning Or a call to you before You barely get to say hello And he’s in your favorite chair Drinking down the last cold beer You had hoped to have from there Yet, in spite of all the hints you give For him to take his leave He acts as though oblivious Pretending he’s naive So now you’re stuck with company And you’re not to pleased with that Since just outside your door in front There is no welcome mat But on he stays for hours more Just taking up your time With such boring conversation That the walls you want to climb When finally you’ve had enough And ask him now to go He hangs his head in sadness So his hurt will really show The uninvited pop-in Such a lonely soul is he And though he is obnoxious He just wants a place to be
