wisdom of youth

by Josephine Burns - Libra

WISDOM OF YOUTH.

You’re just a child,
What do you know?
Your outlook must be one of ignorance,
For you have not accumulated the knowledge of years.
True,
But when is it that we see the big picture?
I look at the world with my young eyes,
And I see things in a way that some never do.
I see the truth,
I see what its all about.
I see life.
And despite my youth I have looked at death full in the face.
And I challenged it.
Dared it to take me,
And yet death did not want to play,
For I was too strong and it declined the battle.
And as I look at the world,
With these so called eyes of a child,
I understand what many strive to grasp,
How can you be wise if you are so young?
And it’s these thoughts that stop people grasping the wisdom that they think they deserve because they have been alive for decades,
I wisdom that came to me openly,
And I took it for what it was.
A gift, an honour
A gift that others presume is mandatory,
Because they only see things with their old eyes.

Reason for writing:

People presume that life has to follow a set route, that certain things come at a certain age and certain things are acceptible while others arn't.
I believe that you are what you live, and its that which makes you who you are, not what others expect you to be.
