The Christmas Rose By: Ann M. Hampton It's beginning to look a lot like Christmas As the snow blankets the ground. With the snow, A lesson is blowing into town. For it is the holiday season, And the Christmas rose is in place; The children have a look of Joy and amaze. They had Christmas here before But nothing like this; Mother gave the youngest child A kiss. The tree is up With the decorations on each branch. The last decoration placed on the tree Is a Christmas card from Aunt Blanch. This is the weekend that Mother Nature blew in a blizzard Causing danger to all. Posing a hazzard, It was too early to call. Everyone in town was shopping at Walmart To stock up on everything. In case the blizzard hit town and the trucks couldn't make it to the store With anything. Work was called off for many; School was closed down too. With a situation like this, What is one to do? Pa is home for two weeks; He's on vacation from work. Ma is in school Remaining hard at work. She is learning computers To which, hopefully, she'll gain the knowledge she needs To go out, to get a job, And try to succeed. It was a time like this That a lesson is learned. For many, It's at this time, they let stress take its turn. It was last Christmas That stress got the best of them all. They almost gave in And said, "Put an end to it all." They went on in spite Teaching to all a lesson. You can work it all out If you just take time to listen. The Christmas rose is just a sign of strength; Its beauty comes in time. It blooms after the winter snows have gone; It stands the test of time. That Christmas rose represents our love; It is placed where all can see. It's a lesson to remember; Together, we'll always be.
