A silent night, a star filled sky, spreading its' protective mantle over a weary world. A shooting star, its' tail on fire disappearing into the infinite complexity of an immense galaxy its ever changing appearance forcing our gazes to wonder at the greatness of a power which can suspend the sun, moon and stars in the heavens and keep our world ever spinning. The moon peeping out from behind a cloud throws a lace like shadow on the ground and though light years away we are all suddeenly drawn together in a vast pool of darkness. The sudden rustle of leaves, a ghost perhaps, caught between time and eternity, lost and bereft of matter and yet one part of a bygone era, a child of light playing with moonbeams.
Reason for writing:
This poem is based on a personal experience one night that
caught me by surprise and stayed with me, it was my
inspiration and made me realise that time and eternity are
somehow interwoven.
