Holiday

Holiday

Christmas cheer is like funerals
The stress brought on is overwhelming
The mouth whips us as stress builds up
And parents yell because lack of happiness

She yells and screams and uses us as scapegoats
There is no end to the vocal torture
She becomes sassy and recovers an attitude
Are tears are shed for lack of kindness

With the bright idea of a Christmas social
The added stress does not help
I must teach the younger how to act or his eardrums will burst and tears will fly
I must be strong and hope for the best because I know that it will all end soon

All will end after December 25th
She will get gifts and presents like a good little girl
We will receive gifts as well but in the form of some kind of apology
All will be forgotten and a new year will bring more torture

People rush to by gifts like a rat race and the prize is cheese
Those who are receivers are pleasantly pleased
Driving is a skill one must master in order for transportation
Or else you will be lift with a Christmas bill to take care of that’s not an aspiration

Alone in the mad world the blameless children are left with new toys
But some are sad because they didn’t get the happiness they deserved
Others will roll around in their new cars
While the less fortunate will be stuck with a bike

As we watch the kids get what they want for Christmas we sit and play with semi-wanted gifts
Within the year the toys might be displayed at a yard sale and that burden shall lift
Another child will want a toy but the mom will say no
And the kid shall pout endlessly until they had forgotten the previous episode

A holiday is only as good as they people want it to be
Without happiness there is no cheer
And without gifts you feel unloved
But the fake smiles and the receipts are all a part of Christmas

Reason for writing:

    holidays make everyone stressed
