legacy

by heather - Taurus

could i lay myself down at your grave,
to sing silently, softly,
one last cry.
one last word.
one last song.
impossible, i know,
you have already been gone three days.
the bittersweet cathedral bells have already tolled,
but all i can see is you,
that smirkish smile, that languid gesture, that handsome face.
those sky-lit eyes, those gentle arms, those world-weary feet.
won't you return, i have so much
to tell.
won't you return, i have so much
i want to hear.
but you are at peace now, sailed home,
wrapped up in the arms of Grace,
mindless of sufferings. it is we who must now
suffer. we will bear the heavy marks of love
you left on our lives. the poignancy of your legacy
lives on in our hearts.
sleep well, darling.
our lives are tied together with your soul-strings.
