Summer

by Heather Williams - Libra

Sunburnt shoulders and swinging beneathe the stars
I recall days so hot we would lay on the river banks
Half naked and we didn't care
It was so smoky from the forest fires
That burnt half the state of Montana down
But we made up for that and made our own smoke
My sprained ankle on the disc golf course
But life was still a big party in the summer
Even though my heart held an awkward pain
The freedom and heat took away all the ache
