WHO'S NEXT As I sit tonight Seeking for words to put on this page All I see in my soul Are waves of fury and rage So few are my words I am truly ashamed So many warriors slain To bring power to my black name From the peace waves Of Martin Luther King's voice To the focused, organized fury of Malcom's militant choice Josaphine Baker shocked us with her Forbidden dance Moves that awed us In the years to past We heard Billy Holiday's heart And sultry blues Heard the black mans cry From Langston Hughes Jesse owens made Hitler Run in shame Mandela went to prison for his skin Trying to open the equality vain Fredrick Douglas gave us The early warrior pride Harriet Tubman saw the chance And created the freedom ride So many namves, faces, and rumors Of the warriors of the past Will we find them all The time will never last Take heed an marvel And watch blackness rise The unity of brother and brother Watch the tears fall from your eyes Call yo brothas keeper Comfort him 'till the end Without love for your brother We will never win So many people have taken the challenge And grabbed the chieftains staff Will you take that mighty stand Or will they be the last
