Can't remember really who's a friend And who are those that just pretend And what was meant to last forever Has turned to dust smashed by the hands of time Rumours spread on lightest wings Whose gentle feathers might induce A thunderstorm of detriment Dislocating everything that ever might have been I wish I knew how to tell you the truth that I've been too afraid to believe The prophet proclaimed it in the desert long ago But I didn't think it would happen to us The future that we deemed ours to be Now became an individually designed prophecy It's all been so easy, we worked hand in hand Now torn by the wind, just like castles of sand Unity became a dream, and everything we've changed turned back to what it was before, nameless and deranged Forcing me to label someone black to join the white Walking side by side is just another thing that we're denied You turn your back and hear the voices turn the same "We could never do without you", whispering your cherished name to a "Let the adults talk" when you just thought you'd break the chains and you remember how it was in the days before the rain
