Like the fairy tale goes There was a beauty and a beast Neither one being what they really seemed. The truth is Beauty wasn't that pretty And the beast wasn't so beastly. The narrow mind Staring into the tiny mirror all day Saying everything reflected in this mirror Is not as pretty as me So I must be beauty And beauty is me. Now the beast was a beast Because of a spell cast Out of jealousy and hate. The man, he never changed But his perception That's what the spell had done in. If not for his stupidity He would still be a man But when he looked into the mirror He would say to himself The face of a beast Covered with hair of a beast Along with a beast's feet So a beast I must be.
Reason for writing:
The poem completely took a different turn once I started writing it. It's more about perception then my original theme.
