Memories in the hourglass

by Matthias L. - Capricorn

Repeating those one-liners all over again
In front of the mirror, nothing remains
Who forced you to stay at the end of the line
Fortune's array has dropped you from your higher planes

  Now tell me once
which lonely maiden would like to flee
  into your dreams
  where patterns are left untouched

Can you really tell she wants
to be the princess that you want to see
  in surrogate themes
  of childhood happiness
  and romance make-believe

  Just a handful of sand
that you hold from your fantasies' shores
you used to sit there to hearken to the waves
now there is nothing to show
  to no one you'd know

You thought you'd open up some doors
  by opening your veins
Finally decided there is no choice in this
  Too many things amiss

  Why don't you cry tonight
the last tears left to bleed
To wash away the sorrow that you feed
  All alone, a sorry sight

  Keep those words
as precious as they might look
  Bearing far less worth
than all the feelings that they took

Adding up another verse
 to some a blessing
 to some a curse

They all sum up your lies
  yet they're the only thing
  transcending your disguise
