Uncertainty

by Samantha Lowe - Scorpio

the absence of darkness has left me bare
bare with the knowledge of incomplete testimony
you were the pride
i was the dignity
our lives were torn apart with almost
sudden intensity

i vowed not to let you into this heart of mine
vowed to keep my share of secrets
like the ones i never displayed
you would have run down the distant corridor
of the laughing, taunting ugliness of my youth
left me there, bone and dry
yet that chance was never taken
instead i lied
(kept secret persay)
the things i never wanted to acknowledge

at my weakest moment all was lost
laid naked and cold
i found the warmth of your hands
as you felt your way across my pale flesh
to the deep remnants of the scars
left from past promises broken
and filled them to replace the emptiness
of my lonely heart

you left without a fight
but now your back without yet noticing
the full effect of what you once had
and of what you now become
inside my eyes of distant fear
and forgotten goodbyes

you reached out to me out there on that ledge
while the rope was on its last strand
letting go of the beautiful and the incomplete
it was all torn up from the beginning
til you reached out
and
   gave
       me
         your
             hand.
