The Family Before Me

by Heather Williams - Libra

It was all they ever wanted:
Boy meets girl
Boy married girl
And the love in their hearts grew
A baby son was born
But quickly passed away
The tears they shed passed
In the news of a new baby girl
With her lucious brown hair
And pretty blue eyes
They knew God would send another baby boy
For that perfect family
With the black lab and the house on the hill
With their perfect shiny cars parked
All along the streets
The great news came again
They were expecting again
October 11th of 1982
Everything was so perfect
It would be a boy to complete the family
But to all of their dismay
I was born a girl

Reason for writing:

My family only wanted 2 children: a boy and girl. If the first born wouldn't have passed away as a baby, they wouldn't have had me. Sometimes I feel like the "family dissapointment" because I was born a female. Kinda crappy.
