Well, the race is on again Or rather never stopped The pawns are in the play But who will make it to the end Until moments just ago It still was right To join the side of those in sight And now no-one cares about you Thinks about you anymore You could always leave this battlefield To find your luck on different grounds Of course you could But can you dare to let it go again Almost a year has passed And you face the second solitary winter Show me your face and then Show me the one which lies behind Now that you're drowning The last became the shortest straw for you The positions are taken Is the outcome all settled When your winning streak Now attains you stalemate At its best The secrets may be hidden To the others just as well But why do you try to act Like you've seen more Than just pieces of the map You have already lost some "things" Which will no more come back Does this not make you think Or reconsider your steps? It's settled then The bishops march again Cover the black knight's deadly game A different queen Has sealed your fate And now you face - check mate
Reason for writing:
Heh... this one kinda backfired on me-- I wrote it on a girl whom I know ("friend" would be too much) that kinda lost a lot of friends when she could no more hide the fact that she's janus-faced - but actually, these lines do suit me almost better...
