I felt orphaned and disconsolate, with paroxysmal fear when you left me> You passed on to me a segue ofmemories, and a houseful of searing emptiness that lies cuddled up like a trail of unhissing snakes. When you were on the bed, palsied and traumatised, you looked into my face so intently as though you were reading a poem. And when you stroked my hand gently, mother,I felt the tug of the umbilical cord, and I shed copious tears to leviate my aeons of sorrow. You spoke very little, mother, but your silence spoke volumes. And for all my private reasons, mother, you never died. You are still with me in my dreams, as a palpable legend and a symbol.
Reason for writing:
This was written to commemorate the death of my wife's mother, who was also very dear to me.
