I could say something To make the conversation deeper, you know But then, only pain it would bring When I told you I had to go. I could give you a call, But I'd fall in love with your voice. I would tell you you're my all, But then you'd have no choice But to tell me the same, And then I'd be to blame If it tore your heart When I told you we had to part. I could visit you, though To me, distance doesn't matter, But once there, I wouldn't want to go, And that would cause my heart to shatter. That is why I have to stop Before we get too close.

This poem pretty much describes trying to push someone away because you don't want to fall in love, even though it might already be too late.
