Throwing Memories Away

by Jesicah Rockfire - Leo

I sit by the fire,
Throwing your memories
Into the brightly burning flames.
As each thing goes in,
They burst,
And the fire begins dancing
All about.
One would think
That I would want to
Reach in and
Salvage your memories,
But I have no
Intentions of doing so.
Even if I did,
My fingers and hands
Would be immune
To the pain the flames would cause,
Because you have burned me
And my soul beyond all belief.
I am covered by deep, large scars,
Which will soon fade away,
Because I am with someone
Who isn't you.
Destroying your memories
Makes me realize that
I am no longer under your power.
I can't start a new life,
And to you,
I say good-bye
Forever.

Reason for writing:

I wrote this for BJ. This was when I broke up with him for the last and final time. That was a year ago! Good for me!
Oh, to the reader...please, feel free to use my email address to send comments to me personally! I would enjoy that so much! I love nothing more that hearing how people react to my poetry!
