That burning feeling deep within, That passionate desire- It burns so deep It churns like fire. That flame was bright; never dimming, Then the wind came And sent it spinning Swirling and whirling Almost extinguishing the fire, It felt so hot With burning desire. The wind suddenly stopped And it became unclear, Whose fault was it? It just wasn’t fair. Was it the wind, the candle, Or maybe the flame? Whatever it was The candle wasn’t the same. It was; in fact, just too Much, Too forceful for even the Wind to touch. As time went by The flame grew stronger, The candle, then knew the wind Blew no longer. The candle grew happy And said with a smile “The flame always wins, Your heart always runs wild.” So if ever one day The wind begins to blow, Look within the flame And it will tell you where to go. Because if you look deep enough You will find, That oftentimes it is the Heart that controls the mind.
Reason for writing:
I wrote this about a relationship I was in. The candle represents me, the flame represents love and the heart, and the wind represents the problems that come about in relationships. Basically the moral of the poem is to follow your heart, because in the most difficult situations it will always lead you in the right direction.
