Just a friend

I would love and care for all their needs
their dreams, their passion.
But do i get love in return? No
I'm just a friend.

I would treat them better than anyone in this world
in this galaxy, this universe.
But do I get the same level of commitment?  No
I'm just a friend.

I would take them places they've never been
never seen, never thought of.
But do I get same gestures? No
I'm just a friend.

I would give them my whole body,
my soul, my very being.
But do I get the same package?  No 
I'm just a friend

I would lie for them
kill for them, die for them.
But do I get the same sacrifice?  No
I'm just a friend.

Will I ever be loved?  No
Because in the end, I'm just a friend.
