I came close
I was at the edge
Ready to jump
And try out my wings.
And being me
I looked back
On your knees
Looking back I see
You weren't on your knees for me
But for you
And it was just a scam
To keep me
When you knew
I should be free.
But I digress
I came back to you
Not wanting to be the reason
When everything came crashing down on you.
So I took the load back up
To save your selfish soul.
I came close to happiness
I came close to being free of my chains.
But close doesn't count.
