when i finally came back home that summer the worst storm of the year came in right behind me "he's back, he's back!" she yelled from the steps across the street she told me about her brothers new card tricks and her brand new radio twenty years later i begin to tune in i hear the thunderstorm lightning crackles across jimi hendrix the air smelled like water and our tree house fell down and between the storm warnings and the tornado scare we heard a brand new sound on her brand new radio.
Reason for writing:
this was pretty much a true story from begging to end. the girl across the street was one of my best friends, and when i came back home that summer we stayed up late listening to her new radio and talking. i was 11 or 12 and i remember it as one of the first times in my life that i could actually see the beauty of music.
