The Race Goes On...... The stands are filled with people, Waving their arms and their hat, To stand and cheer their drivers on, In the world of racing is where it's at..... The sounds of the engines is the high, Thousands of people are there to see, Car 24, or number 6, But the biggest fans are for number 3.... The man who is Nascar, Who stands for style and class, The intimidator, the one and only, No other driver could surpass...... As life throws us for many loops, We were thrown one yesturday, As millions of people looked on, The man, the intimidator was taken away...... The many tears that have fallen, And today will be many more, The man we've known as Dale Earnhardt, Will not be with us anymore.... The track will look empty, Because there will no longer be number 3, He took with him, The heart of Nascar from you and me..... Our tears have built a track, As he drives his last race, To join the drivers who have taken this journey, To his final resting place..... No words will ever describe the loss, Every fan feels today, We loved the sport, the intimidator, More than words will ever say..... To you Dale Earnhardt, God bless, We share in your family's loss, You will be missed by millions, no doubt, And forever in our thoughts..... Racing day will be just another day, It will never be the same, Nascar stands for a great sport, That will forever be branded with your name..... As your fans say their final farewell, To one they've loved for years, Give them the strength to carry on, And shed no more tears..... You've left behind your son, Who now carried the biggest burden of all, Who needs to walk your footsteps, Give us back the spirit that once filled the tracks wall... Reason for writing:
I'm a big Nascar fan, and Dale Earnhardt was the best driver I had ever seen. I watched his last race and when the news came in that we had lost him, I saw all the people around me, it was like they had lost a family member. I was never an Earnhardt fan, but there will always be a place in my heart for him....
