Why did you take my bait?

by Matthias L. - Capricorn

if we cannot be friends
I'll make sure you find out why
no one tries to mess with me

  some call you coy
 others just a slut
that gets it on with anyone
   but in your dreams
        as through the looking glass
      beneath your conquering disguise
  virginal fear lives innermost
     and you're quickly
   losing altitude

cutting off what made you worth
a look before the second
is this a change of pace
    or a visual ploy
           of cut-to-the-chase?

          as I pay another visit
                 behind your all-too-human-skin
I see there is another wound
still bleeding from a failed attempt
          to fly with broken wings

   "caveat emptor" without mercy
          I told ya
              "and you'd better not buy
          until you know"
              but you paid the price
           if not then
             then in the end

convinced you with one more lie
I guess you're now allowed to cry
but I feel you're somehow over it
as you've already found a way
to dispose of the all too common
   fairly uncomfortable silence

was it me that did these things to you
or did I just give you
a breakdown of the "How to do?"
focusing all on my own again
        to find an excuse
      not to be condemning you
  but in the roll-call for a who-is-who
    of dream devourers and hope-gang-rapists
 I hear my name
some say I've done quite well

seems I've been a tad too close
sent you almost over the edge
but with all my "even thoughs"
  I just took your emotions
     'til drop by drop
    the last remaining faith
  leaked from your heart

 first things last
 and back to order
 finally your walls are down
 and you never really learned
 what made you so
 despicable to me
