Please Don't

by Lance James Green - Cancer

Please don't cry
Please don't ask why-
Why it has to be this way,
Why I have to go away,
And why I'm letting us go,
Because the truth is... I really don't know.

Please don't hate me
For making you think we would be-
Be more than what we are now,
That we would be together somehow.
We weren't supposed to fall in love,
But you're the only one I can think of.

Please don't worry about me.
I'm already used to being lonely.
I told you from the start
About the heaviness of my heart-
I don't want to risk losing somebody once more,
So I have to let you go now before it makes my heart sore.

Please don't let love slip away.
One day, a better guy will walk your way.
He'll make you smile and make you happy.
You'll get married and start a family.
You'll be together forever,
And he'll leave you never.
