Effect of Death

by Samantha Lowe - Scorpio

All this pain
All this terror
Is nestled deep within my heart
I remember you there
Laying as though you were already dead
16 was I
Unknowing to the effect of death
Or of colon cancer
Skeleton were you
Lying there
Pale
And hardly breathing
No hair at all
Entire right side Paralyzed
I couldn't say I love you
I couldn't say good-bye
You asked about my sophmore dance
I asked if you were ok
You left a week later
Without an I love you
Or good-bye.
