Reading those few lines
Over and over again
My mind refuses to believe
Which story they do weave
And though I've always thought
I'd sense the difference
I cannot tell if this is still a game
Or a whetstone for the knife
You've been afraid to use
Are you just a name, a lie?
A nothing that some plain old words
Suddenly turned into someone
Who like a comet in the sky
Is only noticed in the fall
As I reconsider this
My heart beats fast
Fills my mind
While my breathing stops
My sight does clearly focus
I see
I see nothing
Nothing again
It's not your fault
It isn't mine
It's just a summoned ghost
Coming out when you're alone
Or with your own
A ghost that shuts your mind
And tells you
"There's no way out
But I have one more key"
Do you only trust his voice
Because he pretends he's you?
Or is it his stark words
That you reckon as true?
It's not your game
It isn't mine
But still that doesn't mean
It's without a reason
To play on
