The Only Favor That I Ask

by Nicole M. - Gemini

My other replies
Fall on deaf ears
But I wish they were dead.
You're love
Which it has no right to be called
Has too many rules
And little of anything pure.
Now the only favor that I ask of you
If this is true love you feel
Let me be, and leave me alone for ever more.

I should never have taken my sweet time
If I had made this request
Two weeks ago
I would never had to wear
A long sleeved shirt.
If I had made this request
Two days ago
I would have never
Been huddled on my bed
Letting it all finally bubble to the top
And letting it come to a full boil
With my tears and screaming
At the offer, as you call it,
That you made.

Now I make this final request
And pray that it is granted
One way or another.
