You were the light shone Inside my darkened cell Brightly lit to display my face And all my emotions You saw my tears as I sat there in the corner You heard my sobs of pain and injustice And you were there to protect me Save me from myself and my own hand Even when I screamed for you to just go Leave me and my world behind You yelled back at me Asking me why I was giving up Why I didn't see what you saw when you looked at me You were the first to say that you cared about me The first to stand by me and listen to what was going on Inside my head and my own wretched world You were the first to not give up on me And not leave me behind Like all the rest... I always knew you would be different Then again it took me a while to realise how different You actually were I just have to say That I hope right here is where you'll always stay As my friend, best friend And as the most important person in my life.
