Perspective

by Nicole M. - Gemini

A week ago today
Lives were changed-
An accident by every sense of the word
Has a man in ICU-
The women that loves him unconditionally
Sits in the waiting room
Getting updates-
His two boys stay at home
Or with a friends
Not understanding the hate they have-
Not understanding why their Dad
Lays in a coma.
Every tiny sign
Isn't so tiny in anybody's eyes-
She cried when he opened his eyes
And nodded his head
When they told him where he had been-
And nodded again
When they said
The woods were all around him.
I sat in the waiting room
Doing what I could.
Walking back to me car
It slapped me ten fold.
Perspective-
My problems are small
And my whining and complaining
Are so wrong-
My heart may have been broken
And I might not have my soulmate,
But those are such dinky problems
And juvenile, in a way
To let them get to me.
My life's just fine
Now that I finally got some perspective.

Reason for writing:

My cousin's husband was in a severe accident about a week ago, and he's not in good shape. It made me realize how pety my problems are.
