I remember, oh how I remember the day, When love, first came into my life. He was big and strong, gentle, and kind, How the tears flow, when I bring him to mind. I knew from the first time I saw him, That no greater love could I have, than the love I had for this titan, From then, until I went to my grave. Everynight in the barn I would meet him, My arms I'd fling 'round his neck, And there we would stay together, 'til the moon was but just a speck. In the mornings while still in my sleep, I would race to the yard and greet him, His large brown eyes would be gleaming, And to his broad back I would leap on. And many a day we would travel, over valley and dale and through dell, Racing on forever, against the wind, Like the devil was at our heel. But oh how the years have flown, And o'er fields we go racing no more, For now my favourite companion, Gallops only on heaven's shore. He was tall, and he was handsome, Please, don't mind the tears that I shed, For I loved him like I've loved no other, Oh, ... Did I tell you ? His name was ... "Red" ?
