Remember the days When we used to run like the wind So happy, so carefree With innocence in our hands The sky had no limit Remember the days When the rain would just never recede So overwhelming, so painful to believe With us standing by each other Somehow we knew the sun would come So here we are Face to face With our innocence lost in the storm We've lost the ability to love So here we are Not saying a word With our friendship gone with the rain We've lost the ability to trust So we choose to move on Both lost in the separate paths we've chosen The paths that don't allow any regret The paths that never intersect So we desperately try to get rid of our past The past that mold us into who we are The past that spread the seeds of our once existent bond We can disown our conscience We can disown our trust We can disown our dream We can disown our love But we can never disown the memory Of the day we sat together at the beach Listening to the ocean Counting the stars
Reason for writing:
As I was walking alone around my neighbourhood, I walked past
this park, and I saw two kids, one girl and one boy, biking
together. Suddenly I remembered my best friend in grade 8,
who I was really close to. It was the hardest time for both
of us because of some personal issues. We would just talk on the
phone everyday and told each other not to give up. Finally,
we went off to highschool, and as we gradually got adjusted
and became more independent, we drifted apart. Even to this
day, I still miss the friendship that was just so simple
and pure.
