Invisible lies

by Matthias L. - Capricorn

face to face
or side by side
I realized
you saw them too
the structures of a plan
that in its flashing failure
made us too blind to see

so I gave you my lies
hoping you would see
the truths that repose well within them
factorizing my backup plans
which had all failed as well

then you whisper
and I hear
your voice again
right in my head
as if to say
"don't use the world
to bring you down"
as if to say
"why don't you let me care?"

another memory
one more illusion
still so young
but already gone
before I can grasp
or even reply
like a scene in the shadows
drawn by a flickering flame

this is not me
this is not you
this is not what I've seen
on a different stage
taking my breath
taking my life

to live away this memory in fear
I trade the words I can't let out
for some episodes of destructive staticness
leading from nowhere to never
just to find out
I'm not a minstrel with any good songs to play
and I'm not a wizard with nice spells to weave
and I'm not the person to reveal a side
you've never found in me
