Dusk on the River Bank

by Monica - Libra

"Another day", she said "Another day gone,
And still I sing this desolate song, my lover gone,
Another day approaches dawn",
She cried just as a crystal swan swam
To her melancholy figure.

With her he did commiserate,
As the hills did eviscerate the sun’s warm rays,
So pure, so great to prepare itself for the eve.

And all the while the moon came faster,
A silver light; bright, beautiful master
Of the night she was,
And caused the sun to flee because
Of envy for the mastery of the dark, mysterious night.

So as behind the hills he faded,
Seeming not a moment jaded,
Shying from the night he hated,
Whispered "good night, world, good night".

And the trees had bowed before
The mistress now just to adore
The brilliant shine she did outpour
To free the figures from the darkness.

But on the shore, the girl thought only
To unfurl a cure from lonely
Days while her lover was far away
With a heart that thought the same.

And a tear fell from her eye
As she wearily began to cry her lover's name,
The man to blame for the ending of another of what
Soon became a sad and lonely day.

So still she cries upon the shore,
Each day she dies a little more,
With memories of how he wore
A smile upon his face.

And though it seems a little odd,
After a year, I swear to god,
Still sleeping in a misty pod,
She never left that place.

Reason for writing:

My fiance and I are in a situation right now where we can noly see each other once a month. I often write poetry when I am thinking about him and missing him.
